Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
GNT – Paul keeps on telling us to stop conforming to the world and transform ourselves by the renewing of our minds, and he would not do so unless we had the power to do so. When we become believers we’re supposed to turn our lives over to God to use for His purpose and begin renewing ourselves.
Renewing ourselves is something we do, not something that’s done to us. It’s part of how we say thanks for our salvation, Paul’s describing something we do for ourselves.
